DAC7: what hosts need to know

Since 2023, platforms report hosts’ income to the tax authority. What that means for you and which details you need to have ready.

What DAC7 is

DAC7 is an EU directive that requires digital platforms to report the income of sellers and hosts to the tax authority of their country every year. Airbnb, Booking.com and a platform like Houslr all fall under it as soon as bookings run through the platform.

What gets reported

Your name, address, date of birth or Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number, VAT number, IBAN, the address of the rented home, the number of rented nights and the revenue per quarter. Nothing more than that.

What it means for you

Nothing new, if you already declare your income. In the Netherlands, if you rent out part of your own home you declare the income in box 1 (70 percent), or your home falls under box 3; that depends on your situation. Ask an adviser.

Houslr stores the DAC7 details encrypted and only asks for them when they are needed.

More direct bookings, less admin

No credit card needed. Your site is live within fifteen minutes.
